Last month, we headed down to Taunton to join the SWAG (Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire) Cancer Alliance for their cancer conference. The event brought together local health professionals, charitable organisations, patient advocates and changemakers committed to advancing cancer care, and facilitated meaningful dialogue on strategies to amplify the voices of underserved communities. 

We were delighted as the day brought in multiple learnings, newer connections and insightful conversations for us. The talk sessions and panels spoke of innovative localised approaches being used in screening programmes in the SWAG region and highlighted the critical role of healthcare professionals in developing inclusive care.

We hosted an engaging stall packed full of posters, patient information and other resources. We were very excited to meet healthcare professionals from across SWAG who were inspired by our mission to raise awareness about the specific needs of LGBTIQ+ people and committed to support our cause. We also reconnected with old friends Shine Cancer Support and made some new ones including Caafi Health and We get it.
