Community Conversations

What’s the study about?

We are conducting “Community Conversations” in collaboration with Macmillan Cancer Support

Community Conversations are open and inclusive discussions where members of a community come together to talk about various issues, concerns, and opportunities that affect them. These conversations provide a platform for people living with cancer to express their thoughts and share their ideas on how to create a better future vision for Macmillan.

Who’s organising it?

OUTpatients is the UK’s LGBTIQ+ cancer charity, led by and for our community with cancer. We provide peer support, professional education, and policy work for the improvement of LGBTIQ+ cancer patient experience and outcomes.

We don’t just sit back and accept things as they are. We’re here to shake up the system, advocate for equity, and stand up for every LGBTIQ+ individual navigating the cancer journey.

All the facilitators you will be talking to during the groups are LGBTQIA+ themselves, with additional lived experience of living with cancer, and/or working in cancer care, and/or running social research.

Who can take part?

We are looking to speak to any LGBTIQ+ person over 18 who is living with or beyond cancer, or has been a carer to a person with cancer.

What will I need to do?

Community Conversations will be held as a focus group discussion online via Zoom. Sessions will be an informal guided discussion lasting 90minutes. You will be compensated for your time.
