Our Mission
OUR MISSION
Our passion to support others is born out of personal experience. We understand what it’s like to not see yourself reflected in the services you use, especially at such a personal and profound time in your life.
We want patients, survivors, partners, and caregivers to feel welcome in cancer services. This is why we have made it our mission to transform cancer care into a more inclusive environment using a multi-layered approach that encompasses peer support, education, and bespoke resource production.
We’re one of a kind
- We’re proudly patient-led.
- We’re the only peer support provider for LGBTIQ+ cancer patients in the UK, inclusive of all genders or types of cancer.
- We’re the only cancer charity led by and for the LGBTIQ+ community.
- We’re the number one charity supplier of high quality LGBTIQ+ cancer education.
We’re pioneers
- We advise and support the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS and charities in how to write inclusive policy, strategy, best practice guidelines and campaigns.
- We represent LGBTIQ+ voices in national government and NHS meetings.
- We co-wrote Macmillan’s LGBTQ+ pages and worked with the charity to take them nationally available in Macmillan centres.
- We co-wrote national guidance with the Society and College of Radiographers to help protect pregnant trans and intersex people undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic radiation.
We’re innovators
- We’re the first charity of our kind.
- We created the gender-neutral chest checking guidance for trans and non-binary people.
- We created the largest LGBTQ+ focused breast cancer screening campaign.
- We find creative ways to use interactive technology in our online learning to support our community.
