OUTpatients was thrilled to participate in Newham College, Cambridge’s Pink Week, an event dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and fostering meaningful discussions on healthcare disparities. We were proud to engage with students, highlighting the unique challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ and underserved communities in accessing inclusive cancer care while also sharing ways they can get involved as volunteers.
Our talk delved into key topics, including healthcare inequalities, the importance of early detection, and the benefits of regular cancer screenings. We shared practical tips on navigating cancer care and offered resources to support individuals and communities in reducing barriers to health services. Additionally, we introduced students to volunteering opportunities with OUTpatients, encouraging them to become advocates for inclusive healthcare. The students’ enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference were truly inspiring. We are grateful to have sparked meaningful conversations and empowered attendees to take action within their communities.
A big thank you to Newham College for inviting us to be part of this impactful week!
