This March, OUTpatients traveled to Manchester for the GAYDIO Pride Awards as a nominee for the ‘Charity of the year’ award. The event marked a celebration of the efforts and contributions made by LGBTIQ+ individuals, allies and organisations in the UK.
The night celebrated the brilliant work of LGBTIQ+ trail blazers — spanning from Venue and Pride Network of the Year to Music Artist and Event of the Year — and was filled with lots of entertaining performances, good food, and queer joy. We share our heartiest congratulations to all the winners and nominees, and celebrate the incredible work they are doing to create change and increase queer representation. While we didn’t manage to win the award, we are immensely grateful to have shared the category alongside stellar organisations like Akt and Rainbow Migration, working to uplift LGBTIQ+ lives. We were particularly inspired to hear from Lady Phyll and join her call for seeing more POC representation in the charity and award spaces for their tireless work.
We are thankful to the organisers for giving us this platform to share our work and acknowledging the dedication of our team. This recognition is also a testament to the unwavering strength of the LGBTQ+ community, partners and stakeholders, ensuring that every LGBTIQ+ individual going through the cancer journey feels safe, valued, and seen. Together, we will continue to fight for a future where no one has to choose between their identity and their health.
