Event Support Volunteer

Location: Various locations across London and surrounding areas

 

Overview

 

OUTpatients is excited to welcome enthusiastic Event Support Volunteers to our team. By helping us create inclusive and meaningful events, you’ll play a part in supporting our mission. Your involvement will contribute to making cancer care a more welcoming and supportive space for everyone.

 

What you will be doing 

 

Event Setup and Breakdown:

  • Ensure event spaces are welcoming and accessible.
  • Assist with setting up tables, seating, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure technical equipment is operational.

Registration and Welcome:

  • Manage registration desks and greet attendees warmly.
  • Provide event materials and guidance to make attendees feel included.

Logistics and Audience Engagement:

  • Coordinate schedules, speaker arrangements, and handle on-the-spot issues.
  • Share information about OUTpatients’ mission and engage attendees in event activities.
  • Champion an inclusive environment for attendees from all backgrounds.

Post-Event Support:

Assist with cleanup and participate in debriefings to provide feedback.

 

What We’re Looking For

 

Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

Experience: Event planning and multilingual abilities are a bonus.

 

LGBTIQ+/Cancer lived experience

It is not essential to be LGBTIQ+ or have lived experience of cancer in order to do the rest of the tasks in this role, however allyship and compassion for these experiences is essential. 

 

Frequency 

Flexible with a minimum commitment of 3 events per year. There is one off volunteer opportunity. 

 

Training offered

Volunteer Onboarding (if not already completed); Safeguarding; Safeguarding

 

DBS

It will be necessary to undergo a DBS check/have a current DBS certificate for this volunteer role, if you wish to take on tasks with access to patient spaces such as online support sessions and group chats.
