Peer Support Hosts/Co-hosts

Location: Online, with opportunities for future in-person sessions.

 

What you will be doing 

 

As a Peer Services Peer Support Host/Co-host volunteer your tasks could include:

  • Assist with hosting in-person support sessions (upcoming)
  • Hosting online evening sessions
  • Present and co-host a themed peer support session on a topic of your choice (Spring 2025)

 

Who we are looking for

 

Essential Skills

Experience in facilitating peer support, or similar emotional support spaces (e.g. experience as a counsellor, religious leader, community leader, etc); Speaking English; Reading English; Writing English.

 

Bonus Skills

Confident public speaker/presenter; Digital presentation tools such as Powerpoint; Online video calling software such as Zoom; Travel to in-person locations. 

 

LGBTIQ+/Cancer lived experience

It is essential for volunteers interested in this role to be LGBTIQ+ and/or have lived experience of cancer. Those without lived experience but with allyship and compassion for these experiences, and/or professional experience working with these communities, will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

 

Frequency 

Ad-hoc, quarterly, and monthly opportunities. 

 

Training offered

Volunteer Onboarding (if not already completed); Introduction to OP’s Peer Support (if not already completed); Safeguarding, Peer Support Code of Conduct; Peer Services Standards. 

 

DBS

It will be necessary to undergo a DBS check/have a current DBS certificate for this volunteer role.
