We run online and in-person support groups to help you meet other LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer.

What is peer support?

Our peer support meetings provide opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer to meet and share their experiences. We create a warm, friendly space to connect with others, and a safe environment to talk openly and share our experiences. We believe community is key and is strengthened by mutual care. Meetings are run as a conversation, guided by our peer-facilitators and supported by cancer specialists. We encourage attendees to tell us which topics they want to discuss and we offer the opportunity to set session themes or arrange workshops.

For people with and beyond cancer

Every first Thursday of the month we run our support group for people living with or beyond cancer. For people of any LGBTIQ+ identity, affected by any kind of cancer, and at any stage of your cancer experience. This group meets online via Zoom. Sign up to our mailing list for patients to receive the link to join!

This group meets online via Zoom and in person in London. It is delivered in collaboration with Future Dreams. Sign up to either our mailing list for patients or our mailing list for loved ones to receive the link to join!

For friends, families, and carers

Every second Monday of the month we run our support group for loved ones of those with cancer. This can include partners, carers, families of origin, chosen families, and beyond! This is a drop in session – join at any time during the session to meet other people supporting an LGBTIQ+ person with cancer. This group meets online via Zoom. Other peer support activities

Support comes in all shapes and sizes. At OUTpatients, we love to work with our caring and creative LGBTIQ+ community to bring additional events whenever we can. From support sessions around particular topics, to art workshops that allow you to learn a new skill and express yourself in a different way, keep your eyes on our emails, socials, and calendar to find out what’s coming up!

“Going to the groups helped me realise how much I miss the experience of being queer as part of being a community.”

"What I value about peer support is the warmth, welcome, and support across the participants. It's a safe space with people who understand and relate to your lived experience."
